Susan BoyleAbout

date of birth: April 1, 1961
place of birth: Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland

Born to Irish immigrants, Boyle was the youngest of eight children and found comfort in music from an early age. Before finding fame she spent the majority of her life in her hometown in Scotland where she lived in a council house with her cat Pebbles.

She regularly sang at church and karaoke in her local pubs before she was discovered. In August 2008 her life changed forever when she walked onto the stage of the reality TV show “Britain's Got Talent” to audition. Her performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserable stunned audiences and instantly became a YouTube sensation.

Despite not winning the overall competition Boyle signed a record deal and has since recorded two studio albums “I Dreamed a Dream” (2009) and “The Gift” 2010.

Her first album debuted as the number one best selling chart CD around the globe in 2009. In September 2010 she performed for the Pope while he was on an official visit to the UK. She has never been married and remains single.
