Dealing with an age difference
Dear MTN,

I need your help about a guy I want to date...My mother is giving me a very hard time about this situation but she reads and enjoys your column so I know she trusts you.

I met this guy at work and he's been flirting with me for six months now. The problem to my mother is that he's in his sixties and I am only 25. I know it sounds like a large gap, but he looks much younger and I am very mature for my age...I own my own business and my own home. I am personally fine with his age. I do not want to have children so what is the problem?

Please give my mom and I your advice on this...

A million thank yous. - Tiffany

Dear Tiffany,
Wow, that is a large age difference. In my opinion as long as you know you do not want children, and if you think you are compatible to him and are attracted to him, I see no reason why you shouldn't at least give it a try. Sorry mom. I do believe in fate though, so if it isn't meant to be, it won't be. And as you already know, if we push our children in one way, it only makes them go the other. Give her your support and see what happens. He just might make your daughter happy, and I'm sure that is your ultimate goal...Good luck. - MTN
