Finally, now that FIFA have not punished Thierry Henry over the handball incident during the playoff with the Republic of Ireland on November 18, the issue can be put to bed and we can all move on.

"There is no other legal text that would allow the committee to impose sanctions for any incidents missed by match officials," said football world's governing body in a statement on the issue on Monday.

Henry was castigated in the press and the FAI first asked for a replay and then to be installed as the 33rd team.

We lost, maybe not fair and square, but we lost nonetheless. We can be as angry and bitter over the incident as we like, but we will still watch the World Cup without the boys in green in it.

It was over for us once the ref blew the full time whistle in Paris.

Now the hoop la is over, it's time now to plan for Euro 2012.
