End of decent TV as Brotherhood gets ax

Michael Caffey where are you?

Please, go get your "friends" and go talk to the people at Showtime.

Better still, send Fionnula Flanagan in to talk to them.

Her character "Rose" would send a chill up an angel's spine.

Get all the Caffeys on the job, including that creepy politician brother of yours.

What can Showtime be thinking?

One of the best shows on TV (with the untimely demise of the The Sopranos) and they pull the plug.

What show? "Brotherhood," a wonderful piece of Irish American mayhem. Politics, violence, sex, the whole nine yards, the show was like watching "The Sopranos," meets "The Departed."

I missed it on Showtime the first time round so I caught up last year via Netflix.

No joke - I spent every Sunday night glued to the small screen to see what was going on on "The Hill," the fictional area in Providence, Rhode Island.

Fionnula Flanagan played Rose Caffey, a woman who would hold her family together by any means possible.

Like many an Irish mother everywhere she overlooked small issues such as, oh, murder, kidnapping and extortion, not to mention the political shenanigans, a situation complicated by her affair.

The show started with the brothers, Thomas (politician) and Michael (gangster) warily circling each other as Michael returned to Rhode Island.

As the seasons progressed it started to become clear that the brothers would either fall in or out with each other, and that each had the potential to take the other down.

As you can imagine, this didn't sit so well with Rose.

Anyway, I was looking forward to watching the fourth season this year.

But now there's not going to be a fourth season.

And while I'm pissed that they've canceled the show, the cast must be even more pissed.

Showtime only confirmed the cancelation after a site called www.tvshowsondvd.com began selling the third season as the "final season."

Damn. Just when I was getting into the show.

Maybe it's time for me to move back to Ireland.

There is absolutely nothing left for me to watch on American TV.
