An Irish tricolor

A local town council meeting in Donegal was disrupted on Tuesday after a councilor demanded an Irish Tricolor be raised above the building before the meeting commenced.

The Tricolor is usually flown above official Government buildings in the Republic.

The Donegal Democrat reports before the start of the monthly town council meeting on Main St Bundoran, Sinn Fein Councillor  Dermot Doherty demanded that the Tricolor be flown.

Cllr. Doherty said, "I object to this meeting starting until the Tricolor is flying over this building and propose that the meeting be suspended for ten minutes until the Tricolor is flown.”

Members of the town council arranged for the Irish flag to be raised and then the meeting got underway.
