Valentine's Day means Francois Payard - French pastry chef became a world class chocolatier

Looking for an extra special Valentine's Day gift this year? Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the world of chocolatier Francois Payard.

The Nice born French pastry chef became a world class chocolatier right here in New York City after challenging himself to create an exciting new dessert repertoire.

In 2009, Payard opened the François Chocolate Bar, and since then the former James Beard Foundation pastry chef of the year has been delighting new Yorkers with his chocolate and seasonal fruit menus.

You can go the traditional route this year and select a Valentine's Day box of chocolates ($28 for 12, $55 for 30) that include temping high-end flavors like mint chocolate, mango passion fruit and citrus zest, lemon thyme, and caramel coriander - and all of this presented in an tasteful box. Or you can peruse a host of other options, including macarons, cakes and even spicy truffles.

We were wowed by the 16 piece Chocolate Collection ($36) that included individual pieces like the 70% Guanaja Dark Chocolate with Vanilla Bean, 66% Grand Cru Caraibe and Manjari with Raspberry puree and the Jivara Milk Chocolate with a Cold Brew Arabica Coffee Infusion.

What are you waiting for? It's the season of romance and real romance means chocolates.

Today, Tuesday 12, by 4PM is your last chance to order the best chocolates in New York.
