The Independent is reporting that British actor Orlando Bloom is rooting for the Irish in this year’s Rugby World Cup, saying that Ireland could “use a little love right now.”
The Rugby World Cup is being played out in New Zealand this year, where Bloom says he has “very strong ties” to after living there for two years. He is again there filming ‘The Hobbit,’ directed by Peter Jackson who also directed The Lord of the Rings franchise.

“It’s a real mixed bag,” said Bloom of his various ties to different rugby nations. “Don't get me wrong I'm a staunch British rugby supporter … but I was happy to see Ireland have a good crack at Australia, because they really dug deep.”
Ireland, who is currently ranked fifth, is set to next take on Wales, ranked sixth, in the quarter finals on October 8th in Wellington, New Zealand. Ireland caused a huge upset when they beat Australia on September 17th in a final score of 15 - 6.
