Lindsay Lohan

The troubled star is currently serving a 90-day stint - and her first big appearance has already been confirmed.

A spokesperson for the Oprah Winfrey Network confirmed: "OWN will air an exclusive interview with Oprah and Lindsay Lohan that will tape and air in August and an eight-part documentary series with Lindsay for 2014."

The first interview is thought to be a huge scoop for the network and show, given it is scheduled take place in the weeks after her rehab stint comes at an end on July 31.

It follows a number of high-profile, topical interviews over the last year including Lance Armstrong's doping-admission, Rihanna discussing her relationship with Chris Brown and Whitney Houston's family talking after the singer's death.

Meanwhile the eight-part series will document the 'Liz & Dick' star as she looks to stay health and rebuild her career.

However, it was recently reported the actress has been urged to extent her stay in rehab to give her the "extensive treatment" she needs.

An insider previously revealed: "Lindsay has been doing so well at Cliffside. She is responding very, very well to treatment.

"The treatment team wants Lindsay to stay for at least another 30 days, because she didn't do her entire 90 days at Cliffside. Someone with her addiction and psychiatric issues needs extensive treatment and 90 days just isn't enough.

"She is in a really good place right now, but her doctors want that to continue."
