White Christmas predicted for Ireland this year

Snowfall in Dublin

Ireland may be set to have a white Christmas this year.

A long-range forecasting agency, Positive Weather Solutions, is predicting snowfall across most of Ireland and the UK this winter. The agency also predicted last year’s big freeze, Ireland’s coldest winter in more than 65 years.

“It is very unusual to have two very harsh winters back-to-back, but this winter will be similar to last winter…Local authorities need to be warned that they’ll have to handle another very cold winter,” senior forecaster Jonathan Powell told the Clare Herald.

Some forecasters warn that this could be the coldest winter Europe has seen in the last millennium and that the change in weather is a result of the speed of the shrinking Gulf Stream, which is now too weak to counter the cold Arctic winds.

According to Polish scientists, once the stream is gone, Europe will enter a new Ice Age.

A fellow I met out walking in Ireland’s green hills on a summery day this past weekend told me that we in Ireland are in for 90 days of frost and 30 days of snow. I hope it’s not 30 days of snow in a row. There’ll be business for the entrepreneur who gets snow shoes and tyre chains into Ireland fast!
We have to change to green, renewable energy sources, Now!
a nightmare!!
