The 57-year-old was at his Boynton Beach home in Florida on Saturday when he received the package in the mail. Upon opening the manila envelope, his skin came in contact with the suspicious white powder. “She retrieved the envelope but I was the one who opened it. It came from India,” Mr Biden told the Palm Beach Post.

“I was the only one who came in contact with the powder so they kept me in hospital. I’m fine.”
He praised local police, fire rescue and hospital officials.

The FBI later declared the contents of the package as 'not threatening in nature', after running preliminary tests.

Biden is the president of a real estate development and consulting firm based in Florida.
