Beleagured Batman-to-be Ben Affleck has a friend in Colin Farrell.  The Irish actor refuses to jump on the anti-Ben brigade that’s apoplectic over Affleck’s casting as the Dark Knight in the upcoming Superman vs. Batman flick.

‘’Good luck to him. I think he’ll do a great job. As an actor, I don’t know that I know anyone that’s improved as much as he has. That sounds like a s**t thing to say,” Farrell said of the Ben haters.

Speaking to Total Film magazine in Britain, Colin added, ‘’I always enjoyed watching him, as a director he’s extraordinary too, but his work in "The Town" and "Argo," he was so fantastic in both those films.

“I think he’ll kill it as Batman. I hope he does and shuts the naysayers up.’’

Ben and Colin worked together on "Daredevil" back in 2003. The film based on the Marvel Comics action hero did pretty decent business, grossing close to $180 million domestically, so it’s not like Affleck doesn’t know what he’s doing when he dons a mask!

Colin, meanwhile, will soon hit the publicity trail for his upcoming flick, "Winter’s Tale," which opens here on Valentine’s Day.

“Set in a mythic New York City and spanning more than a century, "Winter’s Tale" is a story of miracles, crossed destinies and the age-old battle between good and evil,” the film’s website says.  Check out www.winterstalemovie.com for a preview.

Farrell seems to be feeling good about his career these days, though it’s had its share of high-profile flops ("Alexander," "Miami Vice" . . . we’ll stop there.)

“Maybe I would change a few things, but I’d change them with the awareness that I was taking a massive gamble and that I could have done films that were better received than some of the ones I did and I wouldn’t be in as good a place as I feel blessed to be in now,” he told Total Film.
