Brexit has changed the entire landscape when it comes to relationships between the two islands and four separate entities of the United Kingdom.

England and Wales have showed scant regard for the Scots and the Irish by voting to leave the EU.

Scotland has its own remedy, a likely referendum in 1918 that right now would see them depart the United Kingdom they have been part of since 1707.

Northern Ireland has no such clear cut alternatives, and even unionists must realize how little their concerns meant after the Brexit vote.

Suddenly a united Ireland is among the options that have to be seriously considered.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has grasped that fact and made it clear it is an option under keen review.

How times have changed!
