The French groundbreaking lesbian movie “Blue is the Warmest Color,” winner of the coveted Palme d’Or Award at Cannes this year, could be banned in Ireland due to its risque 12-minute sex scene.

The Daily Star reports that the Irish movie censors, the Irish Film Classification Office, headed up by Acting Director Ger Connolly, could add the French film to the current list of 150 films which are forbidden in Ireland.

In 1973 Woody Allen’s “Everything you Always Wanted to Know about Sex” was banned and is officially still banned from being aired in Irish movie theatres.

Of course back in the 1970s movies could be banned for just having the word sex in the title, the Star points out. For example movies such as “Sex Artist,” “Sex Service,” “Sex is Beautiful” and more were banned, and remain banned today.
