The Irish sports agent who represents Usain Bolt has said the fastest man on the earth is like his own brother. Donegal born Ricky Simms also revealed he spends more time with the Olympic champion than with his own girlfriend, according to Donegal Daily.

"I always think we're like brothers,” Simms, who runs Pace Sports Management Agency which represents the 100m star, said.

The 37-year-old Milford native added: “I spend more time with him than I do with my partner. We know each other very well. His coach is the strict one and I'm the one that supports him and tries to make it as easy for him as possible."

On Sunday night, the 25-year-old Jamaican sprinter beat his training partner Yohan Blake to set a new Olympic record of 9.63 seconds and retain his 100m title.

In a recent BBC documentary, Bolt revealed the close bond he has with Simms.

"Ricky is a great part of my life. From when I started professional he's been my agent. We've had good times and he's treated me the same way since the first time we met," he said.

Speaking about his Olympic success, Bolt told reporters: “This gold means I am one step closer to being a legend so I'm working toward that”.

Bolt added. “That's just one step, I have the 200m to go so I can't celebrate.”
