The first official trailer for next year's “The Dark Knight Rises” finally hit theaters this weekend, showcased alongside some screenings of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- part2”.

The dark and ominous clip shows Batman walking across the screen as Liam Neeson narrates a speech about becoming a hero.

“Every Hero Has a Journey,” say the intertitles. “Every Journey Has an End.”

The scene then cuts to a shot of Gary Oldman’s commissioner Gordan lying on a hospital bed.
Speaking through an oxygen mask he talks to Batman from in bated breath.

“We were in this together and then you were gone. Now there is evil rising. The Batman must come back.” he says.

From off-screen we hear the voice of Christian Bale and not Bruce Wayne, which suggest that Gordan has learned the true identity of the Dark Knight.

There is also a quick shot of Tom Hardy’ character Bane before a longer shot of buildings collapsing in an apocalyptic setting.

Directed by Christopher Nolan, the all-star cast ios set to include Christian Bale; Michael Cane; Gary Oldman; Anne Hathaway; TomHardy; Marion Cotillard’ Joseph Gordon Levitt and Morhan Freeman.

It’s due to hit theaters next summer.

A final title promises, “The epic conclusion to the Dark Knight legend”.
