One Direction have hit yet another massive milestone - dethroning fellow popstar Justin Bieber! The lads’ newest single ‘Live While We’re Young’ has become the most viewed single within 24 hours, beating out Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend.’

Perez Hilton
reports on the numbers, which show that One Direction’s new single hit 8.34 million views on YouTube on its premiere date, Thursday September 20. The previous record was set recently by Justin Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend’ with just over 8 million views - the two were neck and neck!

Just a week later, One Direction’s tune is just under a staggering 30 million views! Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend,’ which was posted in May, has close to 155 million views.

Both One Direction and Justin Bieber blew previous record-holder Rihanna and her song ‘Where Have You Been’ out of the water - her record was set at 4.9 million views in 24 hours.

One Direction were forced to bump up the premiere date for their music video after it had been leaked online. Band member and Mullingar native Niall Horan took to his Twitter on the video’s premiere date to say: “Don't worry guys! We are releasing LWWY to radio today! 5pm GMT, listen to the radio, video on vevo at 6! Love u all!”

He later Tweeted: “U like the video? The most fun video to make, such a laugh?,” followed by “Thanks for the love for LWWY , we have worked hard on this album, hope u enjoy the rest of it”
