The National Wax Museum in Dublin says it hopes to immortalize Olympic gold winner Katie Taylor by constructing a waxwork of the boxing champion.

“We hope to get set the wheels in motion to have a Katie Taylor Waxwork made to celebrate her fantastic achievement at the Olympic games (Thursday) evening,” spokesperson Lisa Jameson told TheJournal.ie.

If plans go ahead, the 26-year-old Bray native will be rubbing shoulders with many famous figures. The museum has four floors of waxworks, each representing a different area of Irish cultural heritage.  Waxwork residents include fellow boxer Steve Collins, Samuel Beckett, and the rather unpopular former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern. Jedward will be coming to the museum in November.

Taylor's Olympic success has been celebrated across Ireland since her 8-10 win against Russia's Sofya Ochigava last week.
