Aertv, the free live online TV service, is streaming live sessions of the 2012 Dublin Tradfest to the world.
The 2012 Dublin Tradfest is a music and culture festival centered around the area of Temple Bar in the capital. Running form the 25th to the 29th January, it will showcase a musical ensemble of bands, solo artists and dance groups performing at an array of venues throughout the capital.
Four live sessions will be streamed from The Button Factory and can be accessed using a PC, smartphone, or tablet. (See times below).
“Aertv sees being involved with such events as the Dublin Tradfest as key to our growth both at home and abroad,” said Philippe Brodeur, head of Aertv. “ Viewing these unique and exclusive Tradfest sessions on any device from anywhere around the globe is a massive step to allowing people who have left the country keep in touch with home and is also opening up new avenues to expose the appeal of Ireland Inc to the rest of the world.”
The streamed shows include:
O’Neil will offer her unique performance which combines her singular voice, witty lyrics and observational stand points on everyday Irish life. Highlighted by the Irish Times as the act to watch for 2011, Lisa is gaining fans both across Ireland and abroad.
Jordan is a long-time member of award winning and legendary traditional Irish band Dervish. Cathy will exclusively be launching her debut solo album ‘All the Way Home’ as part of this performance. She will be joined on stage by musical siblings The Henry Girls.
Inish Turk Beg Sessions:
As they climbed to the dizzy heights of musical celebrities they played with the best, and it is now the best in the business that queue to play with them. They are invigorating and reinventing trad music, and boldly taking its instruments into the big, bad world of rock and roll. Truly a show to savor.
Fidil and Solo Cissokho with Special Guest Tarab:
Bringing a real sense of globalism to the close of the festival, the music on offer here embraces the folk traditions of Ireland, West Africa, and the Balkans. An engaging dialogue between Donegal and Senegal highlights the appeal of Irish traditional music across the globe.
Dublin Tradfest was named Best Traditional Music Festival in the 2008 and 2009 Festival Award.
The schedule for live streamed events is:
