A new book that its publishers are calling the most complete and definitive account of 9/11 had its launch in Dungarvan, Ireland, yesterday, reports the Irish Examiner.
Co-written by authors Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan, 'The Eleventh Day' offers new insights into the events of the attack, and - the writers claim - answers questions which have never been fully answered.
What, the book asks, took place in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania on the day of the attack and could it have been prevented? How did so much acrimony arise in the aftermath of the attack on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the field in Shanksville where Flight 93 came down.
Investigative journalists Summers and Swan hail from England and the US respectively but both now live in County Waterford the Irish Examiner reports. The husband-and-wife team have previously co-authored a biography of president Richard Nixon, titled 'The Arrogance of Power,' along with a biography of Frank Sinatra, 'The Life.'
The couple's latest work, 'The Eleventh Day: the Story of 9/11 and Osama Bin Laden,' has been described by bestselling novelist Robert Harris as "the best account yet of 9/11 which meticulously pieces together the attacks — and what might have been done to prevent them."
