“The right-wing spin machine doesn’t want an honest conversation,” Sharpton said.
During his his MSNBC show “Politics Nation” on Wednesday, Sharpton played a clip of Limbaugh talking about white guilt on his radio show, saying, “If any race of people should not have guilt about slavery, it’s Caucasians.”
“Now, even for Rush, that’s a new low. A cynical display of willful ignorance,” Sharpton said.
“It’s an insult to their own listeners the kind of way that they are ducking and avoiding and trying to play distractions.”
Sharpton also took issue with O’Reilly, playing a clip of the Fox News host saying the root of black crime comes from young black mothers having children out of wedlock.
“Bill O’Reilly last night on his show, he returned to his favorite argument that the real problem in America is the black family,” Sharpton said. “[Right wing hosts] will not deal with the question of inequality. They only want to deal with anything other than the fact that we still have a challenge of racial injustice and profiling in this country.”
Sharpton added: “We all need to come together and work on these problems and we cannot let these right wingers tear us apart.”
