A top al-Qaeda suspect remains at large in Dublin City, despite being accused by the U.S. of "having directed a European al-Qa'ida cell".

Ibrahim Buwisir (50) is wanted by the U.S. and has been named on a UN Security Council terror list. With President Obama’s visit to Ireland coming up authorities are said to be keeping very close tabs on him.

The Libyan terror suspect has lived in Ireland since the 1980s, has attained Irish citizenship and has denied involvement in terrorism.

Responding to the death of Osama Bin Laden, he told the Evening Herald newspaper, his reaction was “not important”, before he threatened the reporter with a baseball bat.

Buwisir had been living in the Ballinteer area of Dublin city with his wife and children.

When he was questioned by Herald reporters the Libyan man responded in a threatening manner The Dublin resident is being sought by U.S., and Interpol.

An arrest warrant was issued in Libya over alleged contact with terrorist groups. However there is no formal extradition treaty between Ireland and Libya, therefore Irish police cannot execute the warrant.

In the past the 50-year-old was accused by the U.S. of terrorist offenses.

A 2004 treasury department statement identified Buwisir as "having directed a European al-Qa'ida cell".

Ms.Gail maybe he entered on a work visa or as a refugee.try rootsireland.ie for marriage or baptism certificates or national archives dublin for 1901/1911 census
I'm so fustrated that he could become a citizen and even though I had 4 Irish grandparents and can't get a hold of their marriage records, I can't get citizenship. (Smoke coming out of my ears!)
If the authorities in Ireland had a case he would be arrested. What are the terrorist acts he was supposed to commit? setups and kangaroo courts come to mind.
@jhcarey-You may be sure someone carrying a baseball bat in Ireland has issues. We don't have baseball teams here.
why was buwisir walking around with a baseball bat?ddid the reporter interview him at a baseball game? methinks someone that carries a baseball bat has issues?
Damn! There goes my vacation to Dublin....
"He threatened the reporter with a baseball bat"....Do we have issues? I trust the Irish Police & US Law Enforcement personnel in Ireland are NOT giving Buwisir one second of peace. If they are then we are failing the mission. Given the opportunity I would be in his shadow 24 x 7. we ned to RID the world of people of this nature.
Why in god's name is he living in Dublin and how could he become a citizen???????? Incredible. No wonder there is increasing fear in the free world, we invite them in to use our countries as a "command post" and even when it becomes known that is what they are doing - nothing is done. The soldiers of the free world are living in dust bowls risking their lives while the terrorists are living in Dublin and continuing their hatred and destruction from their Dubin command posts. Is this the definition of "insanity"?
@sirpeter-Very true. Now that they are owned by the IMF the supporters will be singing Deutschland Uber Alles..Germany, Germany above everything, Above everything in the world.
Come on sirpeter us jackeens are not to bad with the football. What ever happened to Heffo's heroes.
Turn him over to the US,or Libya. Just get him the hell out of Ireland! He is not Irish and does not belong in Ireland.
Who has the money for stepped up security? the USA I hope
Accusing the man of terrorist acts without proof, just another witch hunt to satisfy the paranoid American bigoted right.
@antoman..He's living in Dublin. They couldn't use a hurley if they tried.Come to think of it they are not much good with a football either.
He has been living over here for more than 20yrs, why is America not sending an arrest warrant to Ireland for him. Doesn't sound right, that Libya, his own country has an arrest warrant for him, if Libya gets him I am sure they won't play ball with America. His citizenship, well he has been in Ireland so long, plus we were not fighting with Libya then.
