The public will not be charged to see Barack Obama at the planned public rally in Croke Park in Dublin next month. An expected crowd of 80,000 will pack in the Gaelic football stadium to catch a glimpse of the U.S. President.

Details of ticket allocation have not been formally announced but reports suggest they may be offered on a first come, first served basis.

It is expected that all those who attend the rally will have to undergo strict security precautions as they enter the GAA stadium.

The national stadium will be free for that Sunday as the National Football league will have concluded and the first championship game is not due to take place until June.

Sources have said that the logistics of the rally have yet to be finalized.

The event is expected to take place on Monday May 23, when the president is expected to arrive in Dublin. But the GAA were requested to reserve Croke Park for Sunday May 22, to facilitate the rally.

The U.S. President will also visit his ancestral home in Moneygall, County Offaly.

It's always nice to have one of our own as President of the United States!
If Obama gets "lost" in the mob we won't miss him back here! You can ship him on to Libya I hear they need a new dictator.
Interesting wording in the heading of this article . . to use the term "mob", which is among other things a term for an organized CRIME syndicate, is a "flock or herd of animals". Obama is a "syndicate" of political narcissism that has stolen, by coercion, the hard earned money from taxpayers, by thuggery and deceit to perpetuate his ego. So why should the sovereign Irish even want to attend to see this lame-stream "leader" of the USA? This is just a photo opportunity that Obama can hang on his wall, similar to what he did with Air Force One flying over the skies of New York after 9-11. And then to say he will "visit his ancestral home" . . . wasn't that A HUT in Kenya?
I think that Obama is still slighting Ireland and he is using his "trip" as a political tool to get Irish Americans to vote for him. I think he is also using his trip to Ireland as an opportunity to travel.
They should probably pay people to see him !!
antoman...I like your posts..There is a clever wit about them.Though they go unnoticed among the very very serious. More drink is the only solution.when the art of wit goes unnoticed.
Please keep him in Ireland, we don't want him....
Why would anyone want to see this man/child who is an embarrassment to the U.S. and a loose cannon danger for the rest of the world!
Please keep him.
please keep him there so the U.S. can fix their deficit.
Why, for the love of God, would 80,000 people want to see the "Clueless in Chief"? He is destroying America. America was built in large part on the backs of Irish men and women. He does not deserve adulation, he deserves to be shunned.
Alcohol consumption will have to be addressed.Going to Croke Park usually means stumbling out of the pub just in time to attend the game.
I hope he brings his "Greek styrofoam" props with him.
Very good. But the big day in Croke park this year will be Saturday October 08th. Details on www.ciegaa.com
I doubt very much they will even get half that amount. Considering initially he wasnt even going to do more than a 4-5 hour stop over and most people are just pissed off that we are the ones paying for all this- and the UK Monarch as well.
