The next court date has been set in the case of Lennox, a Belfast dog who was ordered to be put to sleep due to his likeness to a pit-bull.

The seven-year-old American Bull dog Labrador cross was seized by Belfast City Council wardens on May 19, 2010 and has been separated from his owner, Caroline Barnes, since.

In September 2011, Belfast County Court ruled the dog was a danger to the public and should be put to sleep. Lennox’s owner appealed the decision and began a “Save Lennox” campaign which has attracted tens of thousands of supporters around the world.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that the case has been listed before the Court of Appeal for mention on April 20 and for hearing on May 24.

A Facebook statement from the Save Lennox campaign on Sunday said: “Our beloved Lennox will turn seven on April 1.

“Lennox was seized nearly two years ago, shortly after he turned five, and it seems an eternity since he's been away from us.

“We love you, Lennox, and are still fighting to get you back home.”

“Thank you for supporting us and standing by our side in this seemingly never-ending journey to get our boy home.

“We are very grateful to the Lennox Army around the world.”

The campaign has asked supporters to send birthday cards for the dog to the office of the Belfast Lord Mayor.

This is just undeniably the worst miscarriage of justice ever. Something very corrupt about the whole case.Anyone can see Lennox is a lab foremost/american bulldog.I know a few, look just like him!Should never have been taken in first place, never put a paw wrong ever..Lie will come back and bite u when u least expect it,pictures tell the truth ,remember that, there is no getting away from that!!!!! unbelievably cruel at the hands of the LAW!! FREE INNOCENT LENNOX TO FEEL THE LOVE HE DESPERATELY NEEDS AFTER BEING LOCKED UP 24/7 FOR 2 YRS,WITH NO INTERACTION WAHTSOEVER,NOW THAT IS CRUEL!!!
This case has gone on too long who is paying to keep this poor dog incarcerated let him go home and enjoy his life I have followed this case from the beginning on FB there was no viable reason to even take Lennox from his home "DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY IT COVER" springs to mind
Geez, you'se guys! After going trough three boxes of man size scotties, I finally realised. Hey! This is no frickin' Chihuahua. Get with the frickin' programme guys. Why not establish a "Free the Pit Bull 1", and take the case to the European Court of Canine Rights in Geneva, followed by a heart-renching appeal in front of the United Nations in New York. C'mon! The are more serious causes than this.
Idiots! If he wasn't a danger before, he will be skittish and timid but will put on a rough front after being locked up and not getting any attention or affection. Great going!
OMG I look like George Clooney are they gonna destroy me?
