Ireland’s no frills airline Ryanair has hit turbulence after it was voted the worst in the world – and received just a one star rating.

Readers of Which? Magazine have voted Ryanair their least favorite carrier in a new poll.

The Irish airline finished 16th and last in the satisfaction stakes – with rival Aer Lingus in fourth and praised for its service.

Unhappy Ryanair passengers vented their fury on the Michael O’Leary led company by voting it bottom of the pile.

A press release from the magazine confirms that Ryanair landed last in the poll with an overall approval score of just 34 per cent.

The magazine said readers had a lot of reservations about the controversial budget airline.

Announcing the results, Which? Said: “We were inundated with comments about Ryanair, many about its extra charges.

“This partly accounts for the paltry one-star ratings for baggage allowance, boarding arrangements, seat allocation, and food and drinks.”

Swiss airline topped the poll in the short-haul category with an overall score of 82 per cent and a maximum five-star score in a number of the rating categories.

Turkish Airlines were second with German carrier Lufthansa and Aer Lingus fourth.

Ryanair was the least popular with passengers on a home-bound flight in the year to October.

Thomas Cook Airlines just edged ahead of Ryanair in 15th.

Outspoken Ryanair boss O’Leary has yet to comment on the results of the poll.
