Ryanair protestor handcuffs himself to goalpost as Michael O’Leary’s team plays
John Foley angry at manner in which O’Leary’s company treated daughter
A serial anti-Ryanair protester brought an English Premier League soccer match to a halt – featuring Michael O’Leary’s beloved Manchester City.
Irish-Liverpudlian John Foley stunned millions of viewers on live television when he handcuffed himself to the goalposts at the city’s Goodison Park stadium.
Everton were one-nil up against O’Leary’s favourite team when Foley invaded the pitch in protest at Ryanair’s staff training methods.
Play was held up for almost 10 minutes as officers removed Foley from the goalpost before arresting him and leading him away.

The middle-aged father is angry at the way his daughter was treated after undergoing a cabin crew training programme with the Irish owned airline controlled by the outspoken O’Leary.
Foley’s anti-Ryanair slogan on the front and back of his tee-shirt was clearly visible on TV as he made his protest.
It’s not the first time Foley has publicly aired his grievances against O’Leary and Ryanair.
He is already banned from English horse racing events after running onto the track at Cheltenham’s Ryanair Chase.
Foley has also protested at the Ashes cricket game, AIB headquarters, the offices of the Irish Aviation Authority and at Irish state broadcaster RTÉ arising out of a grievance with the Joe Duffy radio show.
