Golf champ Rory McIlroy and his tennis pro fiancée Caroline Wozniacki have set a wedding date for August.

The sporting couple announced their engagement on New Years Day, but scant details had been revealed about their nuptials until Independent.ie got the scoop earlier today.

The Northern Irish golfer, 25, and Danish tennis star, 23, have chosen a location abroad for their wedding, which will be attended by 200 family members, friends, and other celebrities from the worlds of sports, politics and entertainment.

A source divulged “They've only been engaged a few months, but they're both keen to make it official and are a planning a spectacular day for guests. They're keeping their invite list under wraps for now for security reasons because it includes some A-list superstars from around the world.”

In a recent interview, Wozniacki said she was eager to start a family.

“I want to be a relatively young mother, and I do not see it as being too far in the future.

“Therefore I have no dream to make my mark. Instead, I enjoy economic freedom my hard work has given me.

“It means I can give my children the best start in life by being there 100 percent for them.”

Currently number 14 in the world rankings, Wozniacki has earned over $15million from tennis.

McIlroy, formerly number one and currently ranked 10th in the world, has earned over $30 million.
