Redheads no longer needed in sperm banks - except in Ireland

Demand drops for carrot tops but Irish women still wanting them

Another Irish banking system has collapsed - the world’s largest sperm bank will no longer accept red-headed donors.

Despite demand from Ireland, bosses at the Cryos sperm bank have confirmed that they now turn down all red-haired donors.

The Irish market is the only one interested in red heads but even that demand isn’t enough to persuade the Cryos agency to do any business

Cryos director Ole Schou has revealed how a surge in donations in recent years now allows the facility to become much more choosy about its donors.

Redhead says hair color has led to lifetime of abuse

The Cryos clinics have now reached their peak capacity of 70 liters of semen and have a waiting list of 600 donors.

“There are too many redheads in relation to demand,” said Schou. “I do not think you chose a redhead, unless the partner - for example, the sterile male - has red hair, or because the lone woman has a preference for redheads.

“And that’s perhaps not so many, especially in the latter case.

“The only reliable demand for sperm from redheaded donors is from Ireland where it has sold like hot cakes.”

Donors with brown hair and brown eyes are always in demand according to Schou because of the sperm bank’s large client base in Spain, Italy and Greece.

The author states: "Donors with brown hair and brown eyes are always in demand".....really?!! A brown haired baby with brown eyes would be my absolute LAST choice. I've emailed this article to friends and they're all oooing and ahhhhing at the adorable wee carrot top pictured above :))
Where were you guys when I grew up?!:) Was bullied for being a redhead from the first day of school and started dying my hair at 15. I would love if my kid had red hair but would hate to see them put up with crap from others about stupid hair colour. Kids can be cruel.
Just have to say that the baby pictured above is a little cutie!...soooooo adorable..wish he/she was mine :))
I think this article has it wrong..I know many Canadian moms of Irish, Scottish, Welsh, British descent who would love to have a wee carrot top.
I thought readheads skipped a generation.
Red, auburn, strawberry blonde, carrot orange - I love them all. I can't use hair color, so I try to highlight my brown hair with streaks of lemon juice. I'd love to have red hair or in the family. I think prince Harry is super sexy.
...sterile male with red hair???? There's no such thing!
I was quite startled the first time I ever saw a red headed woman naked. LOL. But now I like red heads. Cute! Now gimme a kiss pretty girls. LOL! Funny!
Well, I was born platinum blonde with a 7/8 Irish and 1/8 Welsh ancestry. BY the time I was 13 my hair was a glorious deep burnt orange, and by 20 had settled on a medium aubrun. WHEN at about 25 I noticed my hair had begun to darken up past my point of acceptability (My hair was turning super dark auburn/black like me dads' as he was so Welsh looking.) That I have been lighting it back to my age 25ish burgandy aubrun color ever since. I LOVE being a redhead, and I LOVE redheads in general. So screw them all, they don't know what they are missing...to be Ginger is to be Akin to the Gods and beautiful beyond compare...LOL
I'm blonde with a lot of red highlights in my hair that I play up. Love redheads. My mum was a redhead and have them on both sides of my family. How sad if they die out.
My hair was a golden red and my hair was a;ways admired. Now I have a lot of white in my hair and It looks more blond. Mt hair is the color that many women try to get out of a bottle but it never looks as good as a natural red head, My children, grandchildren and great grandson are not red heads. I am proud to be a red head.
@ Siobhan39 - Exactly ....darn foreigners invading with bad tempers too - lol
I love Red Heads they are so awsome and so Unique thats what makes them stand out **(be proud) ** My cousin had Irish setter red hair Ive always wanted her hair ALWAYS!!! my kids hair changed to strawberry red/blond when they were 18 mo then became dirty brown/blond but we do have red heads in our family Im hopeful for red headed grn kids
Obviously a redhead is too easy to spot as somehow outside the parents' gene pool. For some strange reason the redheads in my extended family see their hair turn black in adulthood (naturally, not with dyes).
Think redhead think gorgeous
