Obama’s “Beast” gets stuck in Dublin
President's armored car runs into difficulty
U.S. President Brack Obama’s armored car “the Beast” ran into issues this morning when the president's entourage attempted to leave the American Embassy in Dublin.
The first car in the president’s fleet emerged from the compound but the Beast, which was carrying the president and his wife, ran into difficulty.
With its lights flashing, the Cadillac approached the gate as the gathered crowd erupted in salute for the occupants inside. However the assembled masses suddenly gasped when the car scraped to a halt
"The Beast was coming along and suddenly there was a loud kind of bang, metal-on-metal, grinding, crunching noise and the car was stuck," an RTE reporter said.
“Nice bit of driving!” one of the onlookers shouted.
The underbelly of the armored vehicle appeared to have snagged a piece of metal that would normally hold a gate in place.
The crowd watched in awe in the hopes that the U.S. President would have to emerge and greet the onlookers.
Soon after Obama and the first lady transferred to another car and which transported them to Marine Force one helicopter and whisked them off to the U.S. Presidents home of Moneygall in County Offaly.
