An alcoholic mother has been jailed after admitting she sexually exploited her four-year-old daughter and photographed the child next to her naked partner.
The woman’s offence only came to light when a crushed mobile phone was found on the side of a road and the sim card checked for content by a member of the public.
The Irish Sun reports that police were called after a phone video showed the girl’s father lying on a bed naked from the waist down and the child’s face close to the man’s genitals.
The 28-year-old woman can be heard laughing and telling the child to ‘smile for the camera’.
The woman, whose identity was kept secret to protect the child, pleaded guilty at Dublin’s Circuit Criminal Court to sexually assaulting and exploiting the girl in 2010.
The child, now six, has been taken into care by the state and the court heard that the woman has since split from her former partner.
Judge Martin Nolan told the woman her actions were ‘squalid’ and ‘reprehensible’.
He said she had failed in her duty as a mother as he imposed a sentence of three years but suspended all but 16 months of the prison term.
The judge said he accepted that the woman was genuinely sorry for the offences.
Detective Brian Jennings told the court: “When we showed the video footage to the woman she said she was sickened by it and began visibly gagging.”
The lawyer for the woman told the court she had a serious drink problem and was drunk on the night the video was made.
He also said there was a complicated psychological factor involved in his client’s relationship with her ex-partner, the man in the video, and this was related to trying to maintain a relationship with him.
Her lawyer said she hasn’t drunk alcohol since February 2011 and has completed a 12-step alcoholic programme.
Judge Nolan noted the woman’s problems. He remarked that she is ‘not the brightest person’ but said he believed that she probably did know that what she did was reprehensible.

ciaramurphy: Please apologize to the readers of Irish Central for lying about this matter. On second thoughts, don't bother, readers know you for the fool you are.

ciara ni mhurchu: You have a long track record of lying here, and you're lying again. The woman and her lover in this case are Lithuanian. Don't be such a contemptible liar, deal with facts instead of your stupid fantasies.

Ah george, shes not Lithuanian! Shes Irish! Are you gonna tell us now that the yanks who raped the girl in Japan was actually Polish? Seriously? Stop lying.

Walking past rear of Whitefriar Street Church two weeks ago at teatime past Adelaide Apartments, an approximately 6 year old girl ran screaming through busy traffic pursued by a young male I assumed was her father, who was clothed in pyjama bottoms alone. Followed by the childs apparent mother, hysterically trying to console the unconsolable child, coaxing her to come back and have her photograph taken, (in a way that suggested to me that she may have been codependently facilitating something which may have happened to herself at the same age.) Found the whole experience unsettling, but felt unable to intervene in such emotionally charged environment without concrete evidence other than surmise. A seasoned psychoanalytic colleague many years ago told us that she considers sexual abuse to be endemic in inner city flats complexes (projects). No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. With socio-economic exploitation and deprivation goes ever other conceivable evil.

Who wrote this? 'An alcoholic mother' is an attempt to add sympathy for the mother - to explain the crime. What she's addicted to is irrelevant. What is ONLY relevant is that she sexually abused her child.

Another salient fact about this case is that recently an Irishman was imprisoned for six years for importing garlic in contravention of some EU rules which favor Italian and Spanish garlic growers. SO this Lithuanian woman who stole her baby's innocence forever got less than a quarter of that. What a country...

The article above omits one salient fact, whether it is thru ignorance of that fact or censorship. This is that the woman and her fellow sex-abuser in this case are Lithuanian migrants in Ireland. Now, before OLoonsigh and the other Mass Immigration fanatics berate me, I DO know that Irish people are quite capable of commiting disgusting crimes like this. But why import criminals from abroad, doesn't Ireland have enough to be going on with?

This disgusting piece of garbage should be put behind bars for life...and let's hope the child has already been taken away from her father and he never gets to see her again. One also hopes that the child is being given the therapy she surely needs. How anyone can take the precious gift of a child and deliberately harm them is beyond my comprehension. I hope the little girl is able to one day put this behind her and live a happy life...although it is more likely she will be haunted by it throughout her life. Bless her little soul!
