Ireland is in the grip of another major storm with severe weather warnings across the country.

Police have warned against unnecessary travel and ferry and airport services have again been disrupted.

The Irish government’s weather service Met Eireann has issued a ‘severe weather warning’ as heavy rain and strong winds sweep across the country.

Driving conditions have been described as treacherous in parts of the country as the heavy rain makes some roads almost impassable.

Met Eireann warned: “Coastal counties in Leinster and Ulster are most at risk for the highest rainfall and spot flooding has occurred in some areas.

“It will also be extremely windy this morning with south-easterly gales and gusts of 80km-110km an hour in exposed areas.

“A gale warning is in place and high winds are expected on Irish coastal waters from Erris Head to Fair Head to Howth Head and the Irish Sea north of Anglesea.”

A number of ferry sailings have already been affected by the weather while some flights in and out of Dublin airport have been delayed.

The Automobile Association has warned drivers to take extreme care, especially truckers driving high-sided vehicles.

joanxis: No offence intended. I was commenting on the weather article posted by Cathal.I was not having a pop at the President and his wife, just remarking on the bad weather they encountered on their arrival at the airport, which seemed to surprise them, that's all. ~ Michelle's hair did get all messed up, and helicopter flight plans were altered, and they left Ireland early to avoid some ash from Iceland! ~ When they next arrive; if the sun is blazing in the sky, they might think they had come to the wrong country! so ... we'll keep some of the kind they expect just to reassure them they are in the right country and very welcome to it, too! ~ Springfield: Yes indeed, it did rain in Moneygall. ~~~ It's reassuring and hilarious to note that the 'usual suspects' are still gulping down the bait, hook, line and sinker...! Well done, lads!
@Sirpeter- Water on the brain. :)
Antoman.Bilgegate does appear to be mentally under the weather.
I hope that the Irish citizens vote NO! on the 2 Referendums, on the 27th. This is Vitally Important to our Democracy. If not, we give "The Gombeens" the absolute power. This has been slipped in under the radar and the Press is to blame. It really doesn't matter which one is President but that second referendum is so Dangerous.
I wouldn't blame Obama for the weather. Did it rain in Moneygall?
Sean Gallagher or Dana will fix it.
@joanxis- towntroll is another poster whose posts reflect a deteriorating mental health. Its that simple. Happens quite alot on the net.
What, pray tell, does this article have to do with the Obamas? Or are you trying to blame the weather on the president, too?
The Obamas are missing a chance to get roughed-up again by our lovely Irish weather. But don't worry, we'll save some for if they ever risk coming again!
