Mark O’Mara declines to comment on evidence released in Trayvon Martin’s case – VIDEO
George Zimmerman’s defense team begins to build case for August trial
Prosecutors in the murder case of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, have released 67 CDs of evidence to Mark O’Mara, the defendant’s lawyer.
The evidence includes the witness list, photos, numerous hard copy documents, medical records, 911 call recordings, and more.
In a statement released on Zimmerman’s defense website, O’Mara said that he and his team “will now begin the process of examining the information that has been provided. Please remember and understand that it is inappropriate for us to comment on particular pieces of evidence.”
According to NBC Miami, the eight-page discovery document includes “Martin's parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, his brother, Jahvarius Fulton, Zimmerman's father, Robert Zimmerman Sr, his friend, Joe Oliver, and neighbor Frank Taffe, as well as 22 witnesses whose names were redacted.”
Zimmerman has been charged with the second degree murder of Trayvon Martin, on 26th February, this year. The self-appointed neighborhood watch volunteer has pleaded not-guilty. It is believed that O’Mara and his team will attempt to have Zimmerman acquitted of the crime on the “Stand Your Ground” law, active in Florida.
