The use of folk tales and popular memory shows the profound and rich culture and heritage that is lost by importing vast numbers of foreigners who have no links with the Irish past. ---- *** Give it a rest you bigot... Did you know it was Germans with other 'foreigners' who helped in the study of the Irish language/culture of the Blasket Islands ?
This is probably true… too true in fact (pardon the double whammy). The tsunami that hit Ireland after the last really big Iberian earthquake did leave its mark on the whole south coast of Ireland along with its effects on the Kerry islands. I wonder what the next Spanish-owned and riginating tsunami will have on Ireland?… the one where the whole eastern side of the island of Las Palmas in Spain’s Gran Canarias islands goes sliding into the Atlantic some tomorrow… apart from the destructive wipe-out effect it will have on the whole eastern coast of the Americas, including NYC, Washington and Florida. Nobody’s getting ready for that, least of all the “We’ll be alright Jack” Irish. >>> In Istanbul (Turkey) they already know that the next big earthquake in their area is going to happen in the trough of the Sea of Marmara (but not the day) and have been preparing all emergency crews for its devastating tsunami effects on the city of Istanbul’s population of millions. Is Ireland getting ready for the Las Palmas tsunami effect? No. Are all the eastern Americas’ cities getting ready? No. *praying* “Pullease God forbid it until after I die! I live just above sea level and I’m only mortal in Your tidal designs.”
