An Irishman who was reported missing for over two weeks after visiting relatives in County Kerry has been found safe and well in a wood.

57-year-old Thomas O'Sullivan, who has been living in London for 40 years but is originally a native of Newcastle West, County Limerick, had been visiting his relatives in the north Kerry region when he was reported missing on August 14.

O'Sullivan was found by members of Abbeyfeale Search and Rescue Club in Ballyseedy Woods on the outskirts of Tralee, County Kerry on Saturday afternoon.

Disorientated and suffering from dehydration, O'Sullivan was taken to Tralee General Hospital to recover from his ordeal, but it is understood that he has no injuries.

Limerick County Councillor Michael Collins, who was involved in the search said: 'Tom was dehydrated and disorientated, but is in good and safe hands now in Tralee hospital.'

A search along a riverbank and the nearby woods was succesful early on. "We were only about 10 minutes into Saturday's search when there was Tom asleep in the undergrowth and curled up in a ball,' Collins said.

'He was fine, a bit tired after everything, but his family are absolutely ecstatic and delighted to have him back,' he added.
