Irish megastore bans Israeli potatoes

A leading food and retail megastore that operates in Ireland has stopped selling two lines of baby potatoes that are sourced fro Israel.

German owned megastore LIDL is one of Ireland's largest chain store's and they deny that the banning of Israeli products is politically motivated.

The Irish public have reacted angrily to the Israeli's illegal raid of the Gaza aid flotilla. Indeed many have began to boycott Israeli products and websites and leaflets are being distributed asking the public to avoid purchasing products that have a barcode number starting with the numbers 729 (denotes Israeli origin).

Last year Ireland imported goods worth $100million from Israel and exported over $240million to Israel.

Irish peace activists and members of Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign are calling on the public to peaceful boycott all Israeli products until the Israeli blockade of Gaza is lifted.

However LIDL denies they have banned Israeli products and claim that they have moved to alternative source which is "in line with seasonable changes".

As well as boycotting Israeli products, activists are asking consumers to boycott Dublin's, Luas tram line, as the parent company has invested heavily in Israel. Consumers have also been asked not to buy Jaffa oranges and products from CRH.

CRH is a large corporate company that specializes in cement products all over the world, it is Irish owned and is involved in building the Israeli, West Bank barrier.

Where are the Irish protesters, when Hamas is firing rockets into Israeli villiages, where are the Irish protesters for the Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning. Where are the Irish protesters for Pakistan flood victims trying to survive the flood, and the Taliban suicide bombers blowng them up. There are a lot of issues to protest, for people with nothing better to do, than air their anti sematism

I admit to bursting in to laughter when I saw Lidl called a 'Megastore' for those who don't know, it sells cheap and nasty crud and poor quality food that is near it's sell-by date. Calling them a megastore is akin to calling George Bush an Intellectual Giant or Gerry Adams a humanitarian.

And I call a parrot, a parrot. No support of jihadists nor Hamas, or even hezbollah here. Let me make something clear to you that you seem to have difficulty grasping the more you say something does not make it so, no matter HOW many times you say it, you are wrong :-) And you appear to have a category all of your own.... Having sympathy for the plight of Palestinians, does not translate into support for any terrorist groups. Why is that so hard a concept for some to grasp?

Secret agents of the Israeli secret service, The Mossad, used up to five Irish passports to travel to Dubai to shoot someone. I think that action clearly demonstrates the esteem that Israel holds Ireland in.

Many Jews helped the Irish in their fight for independence. Israel is one of Irelands better customers and has good feelings for the Irish people. It't to bad that we Irish like to shoot ourselves in the foot every chance we can. However, why should we deal with the truth or facts when we can't make our decisions based on AntiSemitism that's worked so well for thousands of years. I think is't outrageous that the muslim countries which control half the world and have multi-billions of pounds of petro income per day can't help out their own.

The Melbourne Age is an Australian paper look at their stories on the issue. You will see two AUSTRALIAN journalists were in the flotilla, their equipment was stolen by the IDF in international waters, the female journalist was injured by a tazer while holding up her press identification.

Try Haaretz an Israeli Newspaper, in fact one of the oldest in the country (But Israel is NOT that old now is it?) Anyway they printed a story about an Italian journalist whose credit care was ALSO stolen and used while he was in custody in Israel and he was a member of the flotilla. His name is Manolo Luppichini, DO feel free to check that one out, two credit cards used now? Naughty, naughty IDF....

Being critical of Israels botched flotilla operation does not make one a mouth piece for Hamas. Never been a smoker :-) Allowing aid into Gaza does not translate into the destruction of Israel, it is sad that you have such a narrow view of a situation that is a humanitarian crisis. The Aid is down 75% from pre blockade aid amounts, Amnesty International, International Red Cross, U.N. all have been critical of Israels blockade not to mention it is ILLEGAL. Are THEY all pro Hamas too? No sneaking, I named the source of the story for the usage of an American citizens credit card. You want to believe all of the video from the IDF that was actually STOLEN from the passengers, without verification and yet seek verification and are critical of my sources, that shows YOUR bias, and that is YOUR choice but prevents truth of the situation getting out. What a sad reflection of humanity, or sad sorry lack of humanity. NO matter HOW many times you call me a Hamas supporter, that does not make it so. Ain't ya got ANYTHING new to call me ? The english language is vast and powerful, live it up a little and open a dictionary and come up with some new names, the other names are getting OLD and you are nothing but an apologist for the rogue state of Israel, but the WORLD is copping on... Does WX call for the destruction of US by calling Obama an idiot? He can be critical of Obama, and that's acceptable to you, but my criticism of Israel over the death of Citizens of their ally, is tantamount to wishing the destruction of Israel? You believe IDF's STOLEN footage of video of their BOTCHED operation in International waters???? Its altered audio transmissions between vessels (Israel ADMITTED IT) and want sources checked for the theft of a passengers money? Why set the standards of proof higher for some than others? You call what Israel did *CHECKING*? You can call it what YOU want, there are ten dead civilians, that is NOT what ANY other country in the world calls checking. International waters, no weapons found on board ANY of the vessels. The 75% reduction in aid to Gaza since the illegal blockade. There are millions of jihadists all over the world who are calling for Israels extinction and annihilation of all non muslims, it's all over the internet, it is here (you) and on al jazeera. You want to justify that with israels attempt to survive by checking what gets shipped into their neighbors? Get real. And yes we already know turkey is an israeli "ally".

The latest news is that a US activist and a passenger on the Mavi Marmarma vessel has provided proof that her credit card that was confiscated during the flotilla attack by the IDF was used by Israeli forces (one can only assume it was IDF related or someone they gave the card to, although apparently they have a history of that since during the last assault on Lebanon, several Lebanese families had their credit cards stolen and used by IDF members who were later charged after being caught on Camera) since the attack on that vessel. Her name is Kathy Sheetz and she has provided copies of her credit card statement that shows the attempted use and the actual use of the credit card. According to Press TV, the people on the flotilla were robbed of 3.5 million in cash and equipment, if that aint piracy what IS?
