Irish banks seek Middle Eastern buyers

Officials from Ireland looking for 'strategic partners'

As the Irish government looks for investors for its financial system, Middle Eastern wealth funds are being considered as potential buyers of the country’s indebted banks, according to The Telegraph.

John Bruton, Ireland’s former prime minister, traveled to the Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar, and has met with sovereign wealth funds to search for outside investors. Bruton told press that he was there to discuss general investment opportunities and was not officially representing Ireland.

"We are not here to facilitate the sale of any assets or start any negotiations. That is the government's decision and role, but obviously discussions have taken place about the Irish economy generally. The central bank has clearly said asset sales are being studied," said Bruton.

Irish officials are believed to have contacted several large financial institutions looking for "strategic partners" for their indebted banks.

Said a Gulf-based executive to The National, an Abu Dhabi-based newspaper: "The message was 'our banks are for sale to any investors, foreign or local.’"

(.../more) But the real people of Croatia, are very, very genuinely un-happy - despite the Arab money poured into their homes; money that ‘certain’ USA people encouraged be sent into it. Now here’s the rub – it was Arab money that bought “peace” in that Christian country. ‘Twas all Muslim money, believe me, that bought the peace. Money that we elsewhere on this planet Earth were forced to give to them during the 1970’s Oil Embargo. Pay-back to us time??? Nope, domination time by Arabs... if my country, Ireland, that of St. Patrick and other Saints and Scholars, ever accedes to Arab money I will shuck my.. my.. my.. well, you’ll know what I’ll... what I’ll... (pardon me a correction) what Oi’ll do. On a positive note, have the Arabs ever met the Fianna (patriots) of our Fail (country’s people)? Probably not... and they will meet us, not greet us and we will not greet them; they will get a very warm very big *foot off* in their ooooophmh-wha’aaaass-aaaarrghss. Brian Boru’s descendants’ boots are very painful for any invaders, middle-eastern or not. As far as I’m concerned the IMF and their Arab cronies should be preparing for pain in the Irish delivery of ooooophmh-wha’aaaass-aaaarrghss. With thin strings attached by me, sirpeter, Mooners and uh, probably not a few million other Irish footing people.
Moonerman might have a point. One of the countries that I, as an Irishman, like to visit is Croatia, a country to the east of the booted and still bootable country of Italy. It is a stunningly beautiful part of our planet Earth. Except for a few of that country’s peoples, like most citizens of Rome, Istanbul and Athens, it is not a country of nice people. It has been through a lot of war and there’s a lot of war-torn bitterness still lingering there around tourists’ ears and sights. But do you know what? It’s come on a lot since rich Arab people moved in on the war-weakened country. It’s now what some tourists call a paradise but the locals don’t call it so. Most cute hoors know that money doesn’t buy anything, even a beatle’s (sic) love. Yep, yeh yeh yeaergh- the lovely countryside of Croatia, its lovely lakes, hills, mountains, seaside towns, harbours and villages and not forgetting the mountainous slippery ski slopes in winter, can’t be bought by any rain-parched Mohammedans’ rich country. (More/...)
hey, why not repatriate some of that capital sent to Libya from mid-1980's on.
There will be strings attached, ie: sharia banking.
The irish have lost their freaking minds...middle east money goes to terrorism but i guess yur use to that..a-holes
