Ireland is the second fattest nation in Europe

I was on Irish soil for the first time in October 2010. I noticed a sharp difference in the huge number of fat people here at home and the much smaller number of chubbies in Ireland. Very few people older than 23 or so in Ireland were as heavy as us Americans. Most of the children I saw were of normal size, but then I was on a tour with all adults. I thought there was much healthier choice of cuisine and virtually no jumk food offered in the restaurants. Irish, don't let your kids start living on processed foods and being couch potatoes!!!!!!!! They need to be playing outside, doing farm chores, mowing the grass by hand and eating lean protein and lots of fresh produce. Our children in America are doomed if they don't shape up.
It's the three B's: Butter, Beer and Bread that pack on the pounds.

I always notice this when I approach the departure gate for Ireland at Newark (I fly Continental). You know you're near the gate for Dublin or Shannon when you start seeing a dramatic increase in the number of pudgy children. Then you notice their parents--slobs in jogging pants and sweat shirts (often in need of a wash). The only thing certain is that the only place they ever jog to is the pub!
It could be worse!! According to the World Health Organization (WHO) 66.7 per cent of Americans are overweight and 33.8% are obese, and 5.7% are extremely obese. That makes Americans the fattest in the world. For feck sake don't all jump at once,it will start a tsunami and Ireland is directly across from ye.
