George Zimmerman’s lawyer, Mark O’Mara, does not think a Florida judge will increase his client’s bond, despite the fact that he had an undisclosed $200,000 in donations from online supporters.

The self-appointed neighborhood watch volunteer who is accused of murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, is currently residing at an undisclosed location having been released on a $150,000 bond.

According to CBS news, O’Mara said Zimmerman’s failure to disclose the donations was an “oversight”.

Zimmerman had set up a website during the media storm that followed the murder of the teen. He included his story, several quotes from historical figures, and a option for supporters to donate via PayPal. The site has now been shut down.

On Friday, speaking after a hearing, O’Mara said, “Quite honestly, with everything he is going through over the past few weeks, if that is the only oversight committed, then we'll deal with it."

O’Mara explained that he had only learned about this money after Zimmerman’s release. The family had used $5,000 from the website along with a second mortgage on their home to bail out Zimmerman. The defendant also used the money for living expenses.

O’Mara said that while the original website has been taken down, the defense now plans to start two others.

Previously Zimmerman’s family had told the judge they would find it difficult to come up with the money for his bond. O’Mara said his family was not being deceptive. However, Florida Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester said he wanted to know about the money before making a decision about the bond.

Benjamin Crump, the attorney for Martin’s family, said that they were “offended” that Zimmerman had claimed that he had no money when speaking to the judge.

Crump said, “This is a bombshell that was dropped.”

Here’s ABC’s reports on Zimmerman’s website and the $200,000 donations:

@McN, Travon was guilty of walking while black? where were you when this happened, do you know what happened or only assume. I would hope my offspring would avoid an altercation, especially with someone they don't know. A kid I coached got murdered in a similar way when he got in a fight with another man, but you can relax he was murdered with a knife, not a gun. Not all of us grew up in the suburbs you Know. You learn things they don't teach in school.
Scrivner "Lynch the Latino" are your words not mine.Zimmerman has played the system from day one with his family seeking the involvemnet of FOX News and his brother pandering funds for their $200,000.00 plus website. If your kid went out for candy and ice tea and wound up dead I think you'd be singing a different tune.Do you really believe Zimmerman, his family, or his lawyer were unaware this money was in a website account?Playing the system once again.
McNamamra, you really seem to be in this "Lynch the Latino" thing, we don't know what the whole story is, let's wait and let the evidence bring the picture into focus.
did you know Mark o Mara's # 2 lawyer on the Zim defence team is Jimmy Woods raised in County Waterford - schooled in Waterpark College
The law allows for bail to be set in order to assure that the defendant appears at trial. Considering that Zimmerman turned himself in there is no reason to assume that he will flea. Truth is, if this case didn't have all of the racial overtones associated with it, largely as a result of race biaters such as Sharpton et al, this would not be an issue. Bail is granted all the time in such cases. Especially where there are questionable circumstances. Zimmerman has been railroaded by the media, who by the way conveniently overlook similar cases where the victim happens to be white. Editing the 911 tape and arrest video to make Zimmerman appear to have racial motives is just unquestionably wrong and an assault on rights. The feds failure to address death threats and a contract put out publicly by the Black Panthers is also disturbing. All people want fairness but many are tired of the double standard in play here.
Stand your ground provides certain narrow protections for individuals who use deadly force in self-defense. However, the basic standards for whether the use of deadly force is justified are not changed nor are the penalties and liabilities for the unjustified use of deadly force. The evidence presented in a court of law should determine the outcome, rather than a media frenzy that appears to be lynching the law.
donal1951.. With all due respect Fr. Donal the NRA has become too great a force in the American political system when they can lobby and promote laws such as this, and also promote the legislation allowing guns to be carried on college campuses around the country. This isn’t the Wild West. We are a country of laws, with law enforcement in place to enforce those laws not armed vigilantes. At the recent NRA convention “each and every” GOP candidate bowed down before them looking for their blessing; that tells you the power they throw around Washington.
Trayvon Martin will also be put on trial. Was he simply a young lad on his way home, or a burglar casing the neighborhood? Did he have reason to act aggressively? It would seem that Zimmerman's behavior in the face of the PD dispatcher's directions speaks for itself. Now, let the evidence speak.
What kind of court system do we have? I heard about Zimmerman's website and the donations weeks ago, before his first attorney quit. Do they think nobody's paying attention to this case? They're making themselves look ignorant.
I am a priest and at age 61 licenced to carry a handgun. I am also a member of the NRA. The Stand Your Ground law may not apply in the Zimmerman case under two circumstances, one, that he had disengaged and was returning to his truck to go home, and secondly, that he was stalking Martin. Stalking someone is not "standing your ground," it is playing an active role that gave Martin the right to defend himself. Only the evidence will tell us what actually happened. But the Stand Your Ground law and the NRA should not be blamed.
BrianO... When your kid is walking home with skittles and meets up with a "Zimmerman" type come tell us all out it.Zimmerman is the NRA mentality at its best. Martin was merely walking while black. If not confronted by this NRA poster boy none of this would have occurred.
Mayhem is lucrative.
Nice to know we have a judge jury and executioner ready to go msnamara31, don't bother with the trial.
When arranging bond from a bondsman, ten percent must be paid (15,000) which will not be returned. Collateral must then be arranged in case the defendent runs off. This means that the Zimmerman family would lose their house.
Zimmerma and his family. O'Mara's "unawareness." What's the word for a group of lying snakes?
