Irish Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore has said he is "greatly concerned" that Joseph Kony and his collaborators remain "at large" in Central Africa, and that Ireland strongly supports the International Criminal Court as it seeks to bring the Ugandan war lord to justice.

The International Criminal Court issued a warrant for Kony's arrest on 33 counts of crimes against humanity and war crimes in 2005. A viral video campaign by Invisible Children has recently raised public awareness of the atrocious violence reportedly carried out over two decades in Uganda.

Speaking in Dáil last week, Tánaiste and minister for Foreign Affairs Gilmore said, “Ireland, both directly and as a member of the European Union, provides ongoing support, including funding, for the Court and for its work. This year, our contribution towards the running costs of the Court will amount to some €800,000."

Gilmore also detailed the aid provided to Uganda. Ireland, through Irish Aid, will commit some €22.5 million funding to the African country between 2010 and 2014, reports TheJournal.ie.

Bringing a Ugandan war lord to justice. There's a Politician-Developer-Banking Oligarchy back in the Republic (Kleptocracy of Ireland) waiting to be brought to justice...erm a gigantic Tribunal of sorts. There you have it Kony, help yourself to a Tribunal; legal opinions will keep you free..
Seabeetom, Ireland has a tradition of sending peace keepers not murderers.
A buffoon and a waste of space! €22m odd to subsidise the health and education of impoverished Ugandan children, leaving Museveni the Dictator to lavish €€€ on military fighter jets, even a naval (!) fleet , according to journalist Kevin Myers. Continuing the foreign aid policy of the Soldiers of Infamy (FF) I see, and carrying on the pretense that we can donate like a 'big-shot' nation.>>> Where does he think this money is coming from??? Its not ours to begin with!!
And how many troops will Ireland be sending to Uganda????
Bythebay, where are these articles about staff purchasing crystal? Which countries affairs has Gilmore meddled in? He should have mentioned human rights abuses when the Chinese visited but he kept his gob shut. Hes still letting American war planes land and refuel in Shannon. You complain about Gilmore (who for the record, I think is a fool) and yet youre ok with the Americans WARNING us not to put a statue in Galway?? Seriously??
Eamon, when you get things squared away in Ireland, hop on a plane and go get him.Othewise stick to your knitting.
Bythebay, stop worrying about us here! We are dong just fine with out your input. Maybe you should put more effort into worrying about your own country than worrying about one youre not from!
Kony is disgusting dictator du jour. I still remember their cannibal dictator (but not his name). I think Ireland could spend 22.5 million euros for its own development and have much more to show for it.
No one, anywhere on this planet, is beyond the sting of American arms! Manuel Noriega and Osama bin Ladin are examples of this undeniable truth. Kony will be killed or captured before Easter, now that U.S. Special Forces are on the ground and in the bush. Ireland supports bringing Kony to trial, along with 80,000,000 others who viewed the documentary about Kony on Youtube, but it requires the resources of a super power to get the job done.
€22.5 million funding to the African country" While the people of Eire starve and head off to other countries.Something is not adding up. What has Uganda got that other nations want so bad? its resources of course. We are like vultures. libya had all her own wealth, bank, water projects, hydroponic farms, 85% women educated before the west moved in and took the gold to USA.That is not the propaganda we were fed.
They cannot even clean out their own war lords in Eire never mind Africa.
Lads, you cant bring your own bankers and politicians to justice let alone an African warlord!
