I doubt a Muslim would pray for a Christian. This man is a fine symbol of Christianity

It's the priestly duty to pray for the dead and the dying. And yes it is also his duty to pray for an abuser as he is to pray for you and me.

Maummar Ghaddafi has paid a high price for throwing the Americans and British out of his country - without spilling a drop of blood - in 1969. It has taken them over seven months and 25 thousand bombing raids to finally get their bloodthirsty revenge! The 'rebels' of Libya will come to realise they have destroyed something very special when the 'West' starts to insist on their payback! ~ The significance of the destruction of Libya is for the future to tell, meantine, on Ghaddafi: " Mens evil we carve in Brass and his Virtue we write on Water!" When the world learns of his astonishing achievement of the construction of 'The Great Manmade River' infrastructure bringing fresh water to EVERY district of his beloved country, from a vast undergroung freshwater lake, whose volume will supply the country for one thousand years,it will have reason to question and regret their actions. Meantime, Praise be to this good Irish Priest who has enough Christian spirit to pray for just another dead man in a distant land. Thank you Father McGettigan. That's the True Spirit!

This priest is following the basic precepts of Christianity. I bet the posters who condemn him, loudmouths such as Brolaur etc., are not Catholics. If they are, would they object if the priest prayed for the mass killers who have taken over in Libya? These killers have--with Obama's apparent support--been ethnically cleansing black Libyans, because the Libyan Africans tended to support Ghadafi. Just a day or two ago 56 dead bodies were discovered, victims of deaths quads supported by us and aarmed by the imperialist British and French. It's a shameful episode in our history. Obama has shown himself to be identical to all the neocon Republicans--I'll be voting for Ron Paul next year.

Hundreds of thousands die every day so why single out Gadaffi? Very silly old priest, just looking for a headline. Should have some more sense.

Gaddafi is one of God's children, like all the rest of us. God will judge him in the end, not any of us.

Rather the actions of the priest in Donegal than those who tortured Gaddafi at the end. I'm in no position to judge them as I didn't live through what Gaddafi's victims did, but the things I've read make me very uncomfortable on behalf of the human race.

Senility has set in on the old duffer. Do such praying at your bedside in the evening. If prayer does aid those who have left us focus on all those in the grave from the Crusades.
