Donald Trump uses Hurricane Sandy to attack Barack Obama ahead of election

New Yorkers slam real estate mogul for tirade of abuse during natural disaster

Donald Trump, who recently released a video asking President Barack Obama to release his personal and education records, has been using the Hurricane Sandy disaster to further attack the Democratic candidate during the run up to the election.

In the hours after Hurricane Sandy struck, Trump lashed out at Barack Obama saying he was using the natural disaster to garner more votes in next week’s presidential election.

Trump (66) tweeted, “Not only giving out money, but Obama will be seen today standing in water and rain like he is a real President - don't fall for it.”

“Hurricane is good luck for Obama again- he will buy the election by handing out billions of dollars.”

Last week Donald Trump released a video clip offering to donate $5 million to a charity of Obama’s choice if he revealed his birth and education records. This Wednesday he said he was willing to extend his deadline on the offer because of Hurricane Sandy.

Trump’s Twitter rants continued, “Another great cause Obama could send my $5M donation to is a charity for 9/11 First Responders. They are American heroes.”

“Don't let Obama buy the election by handing out unlimited free money to states.”

He added, “Remember this: Obama wants to raise taxes, @MittRomney wants to lower taxes - need I say more.”

Trump went on to boast that his Trump Tower, on 5th Avenue, had stayed open during the storm to give people shelter. He tweeted, “We are taking care of hundreds of people in the Trump Tower atrium - they are seeking refuge. Free coffee and food.”

After his outburst at Obama last week, Barbara Walters, an old friend of Trump’s told him on “The View” to stop.

She said, “You're not hurting Obama. You're hurting Donald, and that hurts me because you're a decent man.

“Stop it. Get off it, Donald.”

I have a question???? When I hear these Gov complaint mostly Jan Brewer I would think you judge the economy on the Gov of the states. Not the Pres. tell me what you think. Ma is not that bad but has a good Mayor and Gov

Last Week The Obama denied $5 million to the poor and needy because he is deeply ashamed of his records....just think of how many children could have been saved if only The Obama didn't have so much to hide.

Mayor Bloomberg (I) has just endorsed Barack Obama for president, a huge move impressed by Obama's response to Sandy. Perhaps our Ireland based contributors should reflect upon how we elect people like Obama, Bloomberg, Christie, Clinton etc. and the Irish electorate considers candidates like Ming, Mick Wallace, Conor Lenihan, Pee Flynn, Bee Flynn, Jackie Healy Rae, his son Michael, Martin Cullen, Bertie Ahern etc. etc. to be representative of themselves.

According to a Washington Post/ ABC poll, eight out of ten likely voters believe Obama has done an 'excellent' job dealing with Sandy. This was a catastrophic event that government agencies saw coming, allowing for proper preparation (by those agencies) under the president's leadership. Michael Browne (former FEMA director under "W") has even critized Obama's response for being 'too speedy'. Obama has instructed his emergency management officials that calls from state and local officials must be returned within 15 minutes, instructing Governor Christie to call him directly if he experienced any problems. New Jersey's Governor Christie, a fierce Obama critic and Romney surrogate on the campaign trail, has been pouring praise on Obama for his 'emergency preparedness'. Echoing Gov. Christie's views, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg called the administration and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) very helpful throughout the storm. I can only interpret such responses (from non Obama supporters) as evidence that the president is on top of things. Perhaps Irish contributors here should widen their sources of international news away from RTE, who traditionally keep their correspondents safely out of the 'eye of the storm'. Was Richard Downes (RTE's man in Washington) waist deep in water in New Jersey or New York as he reported on Sandy, or was he safely holed up in some five star hotel in DC watching CNN?

Think maybe that forest growing on top of his face is squeezing the Donald's brain. Obama has excelled in his handling of this crisis. Compare his approach to that of "W"during Katrina. While a trip further up the coast to the big apple would also have been welcome I believe Obama was correct to stay away. A presidential visit to Manhattan in the midst of this calamity would have drawn resources from already stretched emergency services personnel.
