ABC will broadcast a special report of never-heard-before interviews with Jacqueline Kennedy on September 13, all reportedly made in the months after her husband's assassination and sealed in a vault since November 22, 1963.

In the sensational tapes the former first lady speaks candidly with historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr about her life in the White House with her husband, President John F. Kennedy.

Previous reports have suggested the tapes may contain explosive content, including the details of JFK's affair with a White House intern and Jacqueline's theory that Lyndon B Johnson and a group of Texas tycoons were involved in the assassination of her husband - but ABC will neither confirm or deny these claims.

After the former First Lady conducted these interviews in the months after her husband's death, she then refused to ever publicly discuss the details of that period in her life with anyone else.

The two hour long prime time report is also expected to feature Diane Sawyer's recent interview with the couple's daughter, Caroline Kennedy.

Currently ABC are denying rumors that Kennedy's tapes will reveal her belief that the then vice president - with help from businessmen in the South - planned the Dallas shooting, with the gunman Lee Harvey Oswald being only one part of a wider conspiracy.

President Kennedy's Irish files revealed in new archive

Kennedy ordered the tapes should not be released until 50 years after her death, reportedly fearing that her revelations might make her family targets for revenge. She died 17 years ago, aged 64, and now her daughter Caroline Kennedy has agreed to release the recordings early.

The Daily Mail reported this week that Caroline, 53, agreed to the early release of the tapes in exchange for ABC dropping a $20 million drama series about the family.

Meanwhile a spokesman for ABC told the press that dramatic claims about the content of the tapes were 'erroneous.'

"The actual content of the tapes provide unique and important insight into our recent past from one of the most fascinating and influential First Ladies in American history," the spokesperson said."ABC isn't releasing any content from those tapes until mid-September, at which time it will be clear how off base these reports are."

as a republican, and first generation Irish American- ( my parents and theirs and theirs and theirs etc, were born in Kerry-and Cork) jackie was a LADY. Shs deserves the respect she got and still gets-Not every irish American liked or likes the Kennedy's/ some of us actually vote for what we think and hope is best for our Country.

Indeed butlerreport Oswald killed JFK with his three magical bullets, in his 20 year old World War II Italina Carbine.and there is nothing more to it. As you says "Conspiracies unravel over time" Funny, Jimmy Hoffa and Johnny Roselli were saying the same thing only a few weeks ago when I met at the Pizza shop a few weeks ago.

This bullshit that the British media made up, that Jackie said she knew about her husbands affairs and had a few of her own in retaliation is a LOT BETTER than what actually was on the tapes. I want to thank Irish Central for posting it without any fact checking whatsoever, and keeping it up without posting any retraction even when it turns out untrue. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story. High quality journalism, indeed, and it can be found always at the Irish Central web site.

Inasmuch most people read only the HEADLINES of the stories they brush past, I would like to know why IRISH CENTRAL has posted a misleading headline that makes it look as if Jackie Kennedy has "admitted" to marital infidelity? This is low, even from IRISH CENTRAL. Kindly correct this LIE at once!

I notice ABC is not denying they, more or less, blackmailed Carolyne Kennedy into releasing her mother's interview tapes in exchange for not broadcasing a salacious series on JFK's sex life. So few righteous people who have power and money. They are serving mammon not God. I am not saying I do not have regrettable sin in my life, too. What I am saying is that I have never witnessed a world and a people so torn apart morally and spiritually. I do not spend any time thinking about the end times and armageddon because no one can ever know. On the other hand, it if happened tomorrow it would not surprise me because this world is worse right now than Sodom and Gomorrah.

One person shot Kennedy - Oswald. One person shot RFK - a Palestinian named Sirhan Sirhan. That's it. Conspiracies tend to unravel over time. None did here. The only thing evident was poor security.

I for one never believed in one Lone Gun Man Theory that the Waran Report stated i always said it was a cover up to hide the real facts of J.F.K.s Murder it was an inside Job and the US .Government was involved with it It was a Mob Hit. and so was Bobby Kenedy's Murder .When Bobby Kennedy became US. Attorney General he said he was going to go after the Mob ! That was his Downfall they got him first. the whole F.B.I investigation was a cover up & it was sloppy . OVER 80 % OF Americans know it was a cover up. the cover up is still in effect.maybe in a 100 years the real truth will come out long after we are all Dead. When there is no Protection of a Countries leader or its Law Makers . that country is on the verge of Civil Disorder. and run by Corrupt a Government.there is no place in America for Mob Rule or Take over by Force !

For decades, my husband and I have both read and watched every possible theory on the assasination of President Kennedy. Every conspiracy theory hits a road block. I do not doubt that Jackie Kennedy believed her husband was a victim of a conspiracy, a view shared by many. In fact, Jackie was said to flee after her brother-in-law's assasination into the arms of Onassis and his vast wealth. She clearly believed there was more than a lone nut (or two). Her comments need to be evaluated in the context of the time.

Don't worry about the Kennedy family, Carolyn made the decision to release the tape. That family did many things wrong so what's one more. As for LBJ, he might have known about it but he didn't have the brains to plan it.

I have been an "Assassination Buff" since it happened! For a while, I felt certain that the 3 tramps, who were arrested in the railroad yards, at 2:00 PM, 11/22/63, were the real players. In 1992, Ted Turner debunked that myth, when he found Harry Doyle, the 3rd tramp. He was managing a pool hall, I think in South Dakota. Doyle insisted that the tramps had nothing to do with it. The 2nd tramp, who many thought was Frank Sturgis, of Watergate fame, was by 1992 working as a code enforcement officer, in Florida. The first tramp, believed to be E. Howard Hunt, also of Watergate fame, had since died. The tramps are all wearing shoes with good soles, and reasonable good clothing, as they had been to the Dallas Rescue Mission, the day before the assassination. Doyle said that Captain Fritz, of Homocide, pointed to Lee Harvey Oswald, on the other side of the counter, where the tramps were being held. He told them that Oswald was their ticket out of the police station! The tramps were still held for I think 3/4 days, then released.
