Fox news pundit Bill O'Reilly claims he knows why Mitt Romney and the Republican Party were so strongly defeated in the November 6 election.

'Secular progressives’ have persuaded the majority of the nation to vote for progressive change O'Reilly lamented. In response, O'Reilly is now calling for the a new kind of conservative candidate to confront the 'reality of our situation.'

Traditional America, by which O'Reilly apparently implies white voters, can make their presence felt again O’Reilly said, with the right person to make it happen.

According to Mediaite, O'Reilly pointed to Mitt Romney's poor showing among the voters he apparently considers non-traditional Americans - blacks, women and Latinos.

'It was an entitlement election,' O'Reilly said, inferring that your skin color or your sex can make you more or less dependent on government programs or social policies. But a recent report by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) indicates that vastly more white people are on food stamps than people of color, however.

'The media would have you believing the election confirmed election ideology. While that’s not true,' O'Reilly said, 'secularism is eroding traditional power.'

'On paper, the stats look hopeless for traditional Americans,' O’Reilly said. 'But they can be reversed. However, it will take a very special politician to do that. By the way, Mitt Romney didn’t even try to marginalize secularism. He basically ignored it.'

O’Reilly pointed to the issues of out-of-wedlock births, abortion and entitlements as instances of the evils of secular progressivism. Secular progressives 'don’t want limitations on so-called private behavior,' he said.

'The majority of Americans can still be persuaded,' O’Reilly concluded, 'that the far-left is dangerous outfit, bent on destroying traditional America and replacing it with a social free-fire zone that drives dependency and poverty.'

'We need to confront that,' he added. 'But too many of our politicians are too cowardly to do so.'

Poor old Bully O'Reilly looking for a raison d'etre the racist fool
I believe that the traditional Americans died in acts of European genocide. O'Reilly is a 'blow in' and the Yanks are welcome to him.
Who are the secular folks? Young adults gave a large swath of votes to Obama. One in four under age 30 is unaffiliated with any religion. The GOP are calling these young people, along with progressive women and minorities, "secular" while the unaffiliated describe themselves as "atheist," "agnostic" or "nothing in particular" (2007, '08, and '10 Pew research). But we shouldn't be fooled by category names. What of their values? Pew's 2010 study showed 79% of unaffiliated Millennials believe "homosexuality should be accepted by society." Many who DISaffiliate from churches "say they did so in part because they think of religious people as hypocritical or judgmental, because religious organizations focus too much on rules or because religious leaders are too focused on power and money" (Pew's '09 "Faith in Flux"). If O'Reilly is stoking a war with the "secular," he's bound to lose against this mostly young, committed, and independent-minded group who embrace core American values and don't like slurs.
So what is O'Reilly advocating now? It sounds like he is stoking a war between religious and secular non-religious folks... and that will make the USA a stable and viable state? This man is a threat to the stability of the whole damn continent.
The stupidest of O'Reilly's self-delusions is thinking that 'white males in charge' brought us to some high point of culture and that ethnic minorities and women will bring us down with a "secular" culture that dismantles the best of American traditions. The election made it possible to re-balance political and economic power. Now we can try again to live up to the best of our ideas and values: "created equal," "inalienable rights ... life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness," "governments ... deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed," and, well, you know the words and you know how long we've failed to live up to them. Now we have a more diverse crew charting our course. They have a chance of succeeding where success has eluded people like O'Reilly, Bush, Romney/Ryan, etc. We put our faith in their ideas more than in the leaders themselves, and O'Reilly's demonizing the new leaders just shows us how little faith he has in the Idea of America.
POOR BILL !!! I THINK HE SHOULD GO BACK TO HIS ROOTS !!IRELAND COULD DO WITH SOME OF HIS MONEY. GO FOR IT BILL O' and give us a break. P.S. BRING MORRIS,MILLER,GOLDBERG AND KRAUTHAMMER WITH YOU.PLEASE.
This is another example of comments by a privileged white that longs for days ago when they were slave owners. The world is changing and there are many racist white Republicans who bemoan the changes. It is unacceptable to them that their power is waning and no matter how much money they spend to prevent the changes, it just is not enough. There are more and more non white immigrants and increasing numbers of interracial marriages. Perhaps the best strategy for the non whites is to infiltrate the Republican party and make changes to this rich white male organization and get rid of the bigoted leaders.
O'Reilly is right. And why the sneer at 'white Americans'? Thousands of black and Latino origin Americans feel justly proud of their Americanism. With all the messing with America's basic values foundation all can see the mess it has left America in now. But is that not the plan? To destroy America? With over 56 million babies murdered under the Planned Parenthood/ pro abortion flag how can America be blessed? Now with a President in the White House who backs that strategy --- God help America.
O'Reilly would be right. It is ironic how those who stand for those traditional values that our parents and grandparents stood for, that this nation was founded on as enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, that our freedom comes from our Creator not government and that as Madison stated "only a moral and religious people can keep the Republic". Sadly our founders, were they alive today would be labeled by the left as bigots, misogynists...as well as all of the usual slander which the left is so famous for directed at anyone who does not share their vision.
SORRY, "They're" not "Their"
Their Baaaack! Right after the election, I naively thought that I was hearing the sounds of sanity coming from some of the GOP. I must have been hearing things as I just learned that here in Ohio, the misogynists (see IC's lead article today) are voting on a bill to defund Planned Parenthood and making another attempt at the fetal heartbeat bill. I guess we Ohioans will have a long list of issues to repeal next November and lots of folks to vote out of office in November, 2014. It serves us right for not getting out the vote in 2010 but we won't make that mistake again and we won't forget who the Republicans REALLY are. Its time to become 24/7 activists. Bill's idea of Traditional America is one that has not existed for over half a century as sane, intellegent and informed members of BOTH parties agreed to change it for the better long before the current Party of Stupid (Bobby Jindal quote)reared its ugly head.
Seanmor loves himself and loathes those less fortunatethan himself
@ mccsnnon Sorry but you nazi/fascist repulsive party of NO (republicans) are the ones destroying America backing wealthy and corporations that do not want to pay any taxes and lower wages is the party of destruction. The repugs have been wanting to turn this nation into a Hitler rules country since the 30's when the Koch brothers grandfather and US Steel tried to back Hitler and FDR paid them off to leave America alone
I know that I'm very lacking in political correctness in the eyes of the fasr left for these reasons: I legally entered the U.S. and honorably served 4 years in the Marine Corps; have been an active Legionnaire for over a quated century; remain wed to my Christian spouse of the same race but the opposite gender; regulary attend church; fly the Stars & Stripes over my garage, and the Nativity banner by my mail box during Christmas; never seek subsidized housing, clothing allowounce, food stamps or free health care; always pay income taxes to the nation and state, property taxes to the local town and county, also school taxes. Would someone please tell me what is so wrong with being a traditional American such as I.
What does this have to do with Ireland??
