An entire village in Co Kildare has been restored and is now on sale for over €6 million ($6.5m).

The Village at Lyons is a popular wedding venue near the 600-acre family estate of Ryanair founder and billionaire Tony Ryan.

Ryan, who died in 2007, purchased the property in the 1990s. He restored and developed the complex of cut-stone building, some dating back to the 18th century, Business ETC reports.

The village is being sold by Agent Colliers International as a “profitable business with scope to expand.”

The 16-acre property includes a cafe, cookery school, restaurant, bars, and a function room, as well as nine houses, four apartments and 14 hotel suites. Several of the residences are currently being rented.

The new owner of the property will also obtain an “extensive range of antique furnishings and paintings” worth an estimated €370,000 ($400,000).

The purchaser of the village would probably want to continue its development as Ryan had intended, says Agent Marcus Magnier.

“This was just the first stage; it was all part of Tony Ryan’s plan for developing the area,” he said.

“I think anyone going in there will see that you need to be able to cater to good-sized weddings.”

The village is currently owned outright by the aviation pioneer’s son, Declan, who took over the one-third share of his brother Shane and the deceased estate of his third sibling, Cathal, in June 2014, around the same time the property was put on the market for the first time, reports Business ETC.
