112 dead in Europe as historic cold snap approaches Ireland

Conditions won’t be as extreme in Ireland

Eastern Europe will soon be receiving a reprieve from the historically devastating cold front they have been dealing with recently. To date, 112 people have died across Eastern Europe as a result of the heavy snow and subzero temperatures that have rocked the area.

Senior Meteorologist for AccuWeather.com, Kristina Pydynowski, reported on the record-breaking weather conditions around Europe. Topping out the most frigid of temperatures was Boryspil in the Ukraine which dipped all the way down to 27 degrees below zero, Fahrenheit.

The extreme cold will retain its grip from Siberia to Poland and other surrounding countries throughout tonight. However, the extreme weather should be moving out by Friday night when the conditions shouldn’t be as harsh, with even more relief to come over the weekend.

The reprieve will only be slight though, reports Pydynowski. “Unseasonably chilly air will continue to flow throughout Europe next week, but will fail to produce a repeat of this week's extreme temperatures.”

The Associated Press is reporting 112 lives have been lost due to the weather in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria and Russia. The majority of those who have died in Poland and the Ukraine were homeless. A staggering 950 Ukranians were hospitalized after they had symptoms of hypothermia.

Ireland could soon be feeling the effects of the massive European cold front over the weekend as well, though certainly not to the extent that other European nations have grappled with.

The Evening Herald reports that snow is expected in Ireland over the weekend, putting a drastic end to the country’s unseasonably warm weather they’ve had of late.

Though spring officially began yesterday February 1st in Ireland, snow storms are expected this weekend. The Herald predicts that temperatures will “plummet to -5C and the country is going to be battered with rain, sleet and even snow in parts.”

If global warming is real then I'm waiting for my palm trees and being able to sit under them in Jan. I live in the northeast of the US.

If we in Chicago get tagged with LARGE snow or execeptionally cold weather, it still will have been a mild winter here. (Just one more time though, please Lord) I'm anxious to put the yard furniture out early. Saw a male cardinal in the back yard yesterday, that's unheard of around here this early.....

I cant beleive people on this attribute this to global warming lol,what total rubbish,there is no such thing,global warming is a hoax to for making big money,every indepedent scientist agrees,the world has gone through spells of heating an cooling cycles throughout history,a world is actually cooling an not heating by the way,its all completley natural,an nothing to worry about,dont be so gullible

We have had the warmest January here in London for about 100 years. Every year now some kind of weather record is broken. If you look at the atmosphere relative to the Earth, it is like a sheet of food wrapping covering a soccer ball. In other words, very thin. We should not take this planet for granted, it wouldn't take a lot to cause an exponential growth in global warming, once the level of pollution reaches a critical level.

yeah,somebody goofed in calling it global warming, because people just assumed that all the temperatures would rise. The more immediate effect of 'climate change' is that every storm becomes more severe and weather patterns change drastically--for instance, historic draughts in Texas, unreasonably cold and snowy winters in Ireland

I reckon climate change is real, it's just that the scientists made the mistake of calling it global warming, thus arousing everybody's ire when when get extremely cold temperatures as well as extremely hot.
