This is where my mother's family is from. Fortunately, some family members still live in this beautiful place. I haven't been able to visit for some years now. There were plans (that I vigorously protested) to construct condos on the mountains surrounding this treasured area. Here's hoping that the "Irish tiger" kept his greedy paws off of this beautiful place!
I have been to most of the beaches in Kerry and the beauty is outstanding. My mother came from Cuas/Ballyknockane and my brother now lives there. My father is from Mayo. Kerry is gorgeous. Mayo is stunning with the lakes and mountains. I would love to retire there too.
