Catherine (Kate) Middleton, also known as Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, is the wife of Prince William of England, the second in line for the throne.

Kate is the daughter of Carole Elizabeth Middleton and Michael Francis Middleton.

Middleton started college in 2001 at the University of St. Andrews, where she lived in the same dorm and had a couple of classes with Prince William. They did not start dating until 2003 and they kept their relationship a secret for several years because of Prince William’s wariness of the press.

Middleton graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in art history. Their relationship became public in 2006 and Middleton took a job as an assistant accessories buyer for the British clothing chain Jigsaw.

The couple split in 2007. They later got back together and on November 16, 2010 they announced their engagement. Prince William proposed with his mother Princess Diana's engagement ring.

Middleton married Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, who is second in line to the British throne, in Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.

Middleton’s wedding dress was designed by Sarah Burton and her official title is Duchess of Cambridge.

On December 3, 2012 Middleton announced she was pregnant with her first child and the child will be in line to inherit the throne.
