Guinness pioneered the use of nitrogen in beer back in the 1950's. Because it resists dissolving in liquid, nitrogen creates tinier, livelier bubbles than standard CO2, which is what gives our classic Draught Stout its creamy texture and signature head. In this video, our brewers talk about nitrogen and why we used it in an IPA.

IPAs were invented in England in the early 1800s, a time when we happened to be the biggest brewer in the world. Our idea was to re-interpret the original English-style IPA with same nitrogen infusion we use in our classic Draught Stout. The result is a creamy, smooth, flavorful IPA that's less aggressively hoppy than the typical American-style.
