U2’s Bono told Ellen DeGeneres on World AIDs day his own voice annoys him - SEE VIDEO
Irish bands greatest decade now unlistenable to frontman
In his old age Bono wants you to know two things: he's really macho and he used to sing like a girl.
The U2 font man made this surprisingly grumpy revelation to - of all people - Ellen DeGeneres on her show.
Call it the curmudgeon years. The bespectacled one now believes what many critics and fans consider U2's finest musical decade was sullied by his girly girl vocal stylings.
In ominous news for fans of the Irish rock band Bono also confessed to DeGeneres he's tired of his own voice and tries not to listen to U2 when it comes on the radio.

According to a report on Gbson.com Bono said: 'I do try to avoid it. If I hear our songs on the radio I tend to turn them down. Not because I don’t like them or believe in them. Actually, my voice annoys me. I always think I could have sang it better.
'I am sort of a macho, Irish guy and particularly in those 1980's songs, I think I sound like a girl.'
He should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky.
In the 1980's the Pet Shop Boys parodied U2's Where The Street Have No Name, mashing it up with the disco classic Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You - just to puncture the Irish band's self-importance.So it would seem that other bands have always found them too macho from the beginning.
