U2, Glen Hansard, Damien Rice, The Script in new documentary
Irish rock star royalty including U2, Glen Hansard, Damien Rice and The Script will all star in the forthcoming 'Music of Ireland' documentary series, which will be screened nationwide on PBS public television stations here this month and throughout the fall.
Book sellers Barnes & Noble have won the exclusive rights to retail the CD and DVD versions of the documentary, and they plan a nationwide in store promotional campaign to promote the show starting on August 31.
'Welcome to America' begins in the early 1980's as U2 was emerging as a world class act in Ireland. The documentary then goes on to profile the international careers of Sinead O'Connor, The Corrs and The Cranberries. The hour-long documentary also features interviews with Academy Award winner Glen Hansard (Once) and Irish songwriter Damien Rice.
