I am delighted that Susan Boyle fans are writing in to me with research of their own in Susan's phenomenal popularity. The letter below from super fan Lisa Pully proves without a shadow of doubt that Susan's YouTube videos are much higher than the 100 million views that are usually credited to her. Instead, they are approaching 384 million -- an incredible number. Thank you Lisa for keeping us updated!

Here is Lisa’s letter:
 
Hello everyone,

I have become very interested in Susan Boyle's YouTube hit numbers back in June of 2009. It was last June when I also became a member of my first of four Susan Boyle fansites that I now belong to.  

I had talked to the host of my first Susan Boyle fansite about this keen interest that I had in maybe keeping a record of Susan's YouTube Hits for the fansite. She was very excited to say the least.  With a lot of planning and organizing I have gotten a wonderful system for keeping track of the YouTube Hits.
 
I have 7 categories that I have put Susan's You Tube hits in: Audition, Semi-finals & Results, Final & Results, BGT Tour, Interviews and News, Tributes of Videos, Other songs not from the Talent show. As of Dec. 15th, here is the breakdown numbers for Susan's Hits.
 
Audition - 203,397,586
Semi-Final & Results - 66,271,003
Final & Results - 21,354,863
BGT Tour - 1,816,409
Interviews & News - 44,144,917
Tributes videos - 4,624,972
Other Songs Sung - 42,077,564
 
Total - 383,687,314
 
Susan's hit numbers are never standing still. I can get a hit total of a video, leave it and go back to it in 2 hours and it could have gone up to 2,000 more hits!

AMAZING! It’s amazing just like Susan. I do not use a computer spreadsheet for it, it would take up to much time in getting the numbers. Besides that, Susan has just now this past year probably seen a computer and though I am not sure, she just may never have turned one on.

So, don't you think that putting all of my information that I need down on paper by hand is pretty unique, just like Susan?  

In tallying up the video hits, this last time it took me five weeks total. This to me is what I love to call my 'hobby.'

Even though I don't really think that what I do will ever get back to Susan Boyle herself, I am doing this in her honor to show her how much I respect and admire her.  

I will be doing another posting of Susan's YouTube Hits on April 11. What a great way to bring her hits full circle to the date where they started. Thank You Susan for all that you have done for us!

Trishpierce, I thank you very much for your kind and sweet words, they mean a lot, truely they do. Roseofengland, thank you for your wonderful words too! I am very humbled. All the wonderful comments and words of encouragment keep me going. I am getting geared up and getting things ready for my next postings. I want to be sure that its done on time, April 11th, so Im getting my ducks in a row so things can go smoothly as possible. When Susan is busy, I am busy. When Susan has down time, Im playing catch up! :) Susan? What have you done to me?! What have you done to me?! I LOVE IT! :)

This is my favourite "Susan" site - I always find something to make me smile, so thanks to Niall and Lisa for such a good start to this very cold week in England. I,too, couldn't make sense of the number of views reported for 2009 as the total seemed to me to be going backwards, so it's good to know someone is keeping an accurate count.Well done, Lisa, keep counting.

LoriMB1, hello to you again. All this number thing is getting a bit confusing to me but I am here to say that, Reguardless of everything, I will keep finding and posting Susan's video's hits the way I have been. I will be starting my second note book with this next tally of Youtube hits for Susan. I am keep all of the notebooks for maybe one day, if Susan's people want to take them and put them up on a special place they can have them. Would be neat if long time down the road, if I can hand them to Susan herself. But thats just dreaming Im sure, its a nice dream though. No one knows, how excited it is for me to share numbers from my 'hobby'. I had a friend ask me, "Lisa? You must be counting numbers in your sleep?" I replied, "Sure do! They are way better then counting sheep!" lol I have to say that the catergory that is the 'hardest' for me to do, and I have told others is, the "Final & Results". We all KNOW the results and the outcome, but having to briefly watch the starting of a Result footage, I PULL for Susan EVERYTIME! Even though I know who is announced. *sighs* But always knowing where Susan is today and how wonderful she is doing, makes going through them videos a bit easier. To Lisa Pully...hi again. It was SusaBawesome who mentioned that the original AGT video with about 1.5 million views was pulled. If I remember correctly, a second one was also pulled and I think together they totalled over 2 million. In answer to your question, this occured around 9/18/09. I looked at "viral video chart" and it seems to be missing the video of Susan singing a studio version of "Memory" while holding a hairbrush (447,370 views). It has the video of Susan speaking in Japanese (314 views), but is missing the same one with 4,095 views. And, yes, we enjoy your hobby!

Nice job Lisa. I wouldn't worry about the visible measures chart. Before they revised and updated their site, there was a short article on the videos they were collecting to get their figures. Their figure is not just the audition, but includes other videos that came out in April such as interviews and Cry Me a River. Viralvideochart.com has a more accurate breakdown. If you search Susan Boyle on their site, there are 13 pages worth of videos being automatically counted. It includes videos that have been pulled from youtube. Their audition count and your audition count seem to be just about the same. They have currently as of January 9th, more than 209 million views counted just for the audition. You may find it interesting to compare the videos you are counting with the videos that they are counting.

To everyone that has given me complements, I am humbled, truely I am. I have a hard time taking complements, my Susafans know this, I am still working on it. Thank you. LoriMB1, thank you for your responce too. I thank you for pointing me to find this chart you have spoken about I have found it. It was either you or someone else that had said that Susan has big huge videos that had been pulled. Now I dont know if them actual videos are still on the web or not. I have to tell you, if they are there, I havent found them. I dont know when they were pulled. But was it before June? If so and they are not there, I dont know them numbers. But I do want to say is that, the videos that I have recorded and after I recorded them, I STILL count them. Them numbers were there before being pulled and I still count them. I think of it this way, it wasnt Susan, nor I that pulled them down, so I still count them. Believe me when I say this, I have turned over every video I can find in all catergory, and counted them. I can only count what I find. You have no idea how bad I want to grab that 303,236,071 number and slap it onto my list of Audition videos for Susan. But I cant, I need proof, numbers of the videos in front of me. I do not believe they are lying in any way. But I am only one person, looking up EVERY video there is about Miss Susan. When our lady goes on tv LOTS of people posts videos of her, my job is to QUICKLY get them written down so I can count them and not have to look for them later. The Japan videos that were up and are now down, I have the video's and numbers hits written down and ready for me to post for April 11th. Them videos were up and they got hits, so I count them. I LOVE doing this. This is a 'hobby' for me and one that I enjoy and I hope others will get enjoyment from it too.

To Lisa Pully...thank you for your response. I'm not computer savvy, but here goes...google "visible measures chart", click on the lst one listed "The top viral video ad campaigns of the week Dec 28,2009". From there, on the left side, click on "100 million club" and then scroll down to #7 Susan Boyle 303,236,071 BGT audition views. They update about every 2 months. Around September Susan was #5. On June 12th, Susan was #3 with 261,500,000 views. At that time Susan was ahead of Beyonce and Mariah Carey, but now they are ahead of her. Also available at this site at the top are "about this chart" and "our methodology". You can also google "visible measures chart susan boyle" and there are articles about her meteroic rise and the 'Susan Boyle effect' back in April. I hope this is helpful!

Lisa work was clearly a labor of love. I have been following her on Susan's USA site (susanboylefanclubusa) and think it's wonderful that you have given her recognition for all she's done. Susan is outstanding in so many ways, and I'm glad we have some objective measures that confirm that. And Niall thanks for your early and ongoing support of Susan.
